Dealing with Violence: Gurbani Is Jag Me Chanan – S. Jagmohan Singh
Abstract
Most of us think that violence is a modern day phenomenon with easy access to weapons, guns and bombs. Gurbani teaches us that this has been happening since SATYUG, and is expected to continue as Waheguru Ji is the Master of the Universe:
“EH JAG TERA TU GUSAI”
Gurbani prepares us not to question, “Why are innocent people killed,” but rather to accept His Hukam. As Guru Nanak Dev Ji describes in BABAR VAANI,
“NANAK SINGS GLORIOUS PRAISES OF WAHEGURU, IN THE CITY OF CORPSES”
Because, His Command and Justice is unquestionably correct.
Guru Arjan Devji amplifies….
“I DO NOT BLAME ANYONE, WHATEVER YOU DO IS SWEET TO MY MIND.”
In today’s Sales and Marketing society, it is very hard to accept this GURMAT. Understanding and reciting Gurbani helps us realize how to live in BEGUMPURA. Even with all worldly education and knowledge, without the GURU Ji, there is utter darkness.
In addition, Gurbani prepares us not to accept violence from a sign of weakness. As a SANT we have to make an effort for peace and practice it. By meditating, we merge with Waheguruji and our anxiety will vanish.
At the same time, when all peaceful efforts fail, Guru Gobind Singh Ji says, as a SIPAHI, it is legitimate to raise your sword

I have a great wife, three beautiful daughters and four lovely graand chidren.

Today one of my friends had difference of opinion. Mitr Pyare nu, is this designated as shabad or non-shabad.
According to me, SHABAD is what is written in Sri Guru Granth Sahib and my friend tried to convince me that Mitr Pyare Nu written by Guru Gobind Singh Ji is also shabad.
Would you please clarify if Mitr Pyare nu is exception based on the definition of shabad.
I have bowed down to my friend because I don’t like to be in controversy.
Please help me.
