Guru Nanak urges us to gather a basket of fragrant virtues, enjoy their sweet scents, and seek the company of those whose lives embody goodness. Employing another beautiful metaphor, the Guru states that virtues clothe us in beautiful robes, and prepare us for a place in our Beloved’s home. Sri Guru Granth Sahib is replete with attributes that endear us to our Beloved. However, for all the virtues, attitudes and behaviors the Gurus motivate us to aspire to, there are negative proclivities that we wrestle with on the path that has been described as finer that a strand of hair and sharper than a razor’s edge. These negative forces or vices distract us, sway us, and create roadblocks on our journey to the Beloved’s home. Jessi Kaur will discuss the play and interaction of the virtues and vices that rages in the battlefield of the mind, and the personal practice that according to SGGS can keep us on the straight and narrow path.
As always, we look for active participation by the Sangat in an environment that encourages interactive discussion.
