“Some insights into Education from Gurbani and Lives of our Gurus” (S. Gurinder Pal Singh)
Abstract:
“Sikh” means student and “Guru” means the teacher. In spite of this, in the usual stereotypes about Sikhs (even the positive ones), education is hardly ever mentioned.
If we think deeply, Gurbani is rich and effective source of spiritual education. The revolution that Sikh Gurus started changed the social, political and religious landscape of Punjab for ever. In this talk we will analyze some of the methods that our Gurus employed in the spiritual education and how these methods are also applicable in the “secular” education. Role of value based education and the knowledge creation will also be touched upon.
